Re-imagining Your Dinner Plate – as part of the news series by GeoBeats.
A great artist can often expand our perception of a physical object that we might have deemed to be relatively mundane.
Enter the world of Boguslaw Sliwinski – who has re-imagined our notion of a plate.
He wanted to ease his pain of feeding his children – a problem that parents are well familiar with. So he created silhouetted drawings of various figures on ceramic plates and then whoever is using the plates can combine food with those drawings to create their own masterpieces.
And that’s when you realize the artist has just expanded your world. Your kids are able to juxtapose your food with the plate in ways you probably never thought about. All of a sudden, vegetables that are considered necessary evils, seem cool and full of personality. Who knows – it may even alter our taste perceptions.
You are not just playing with your food, you are also playing with your plate and that’s a good thing. Can you re-imagine your food plate?
