Here are some FAQs that i was asked about this bird feeder….
Question 1 : How does the bird feed with this bird feeder ?
Answer1 : The birds will feed in two ways : A) They will perch on the wooden sticks and peck at the feed through the incision we made to push the sticks in. B) Some of the feed will fall on the plate and the birds will eat this as well.
To improve the bird feeder one can make small holes (one or two) in the bottle near the plate so that more feed will fall on the plate.
Question 2 : What type of a plastic plate is used at the bottom ?
Answer 2 : I used a thin plastic plate, it is slightly sturdier than a disposable plastic plate but not as sturdy as melamine. You can use a disposable plate, but you may need to replace it incase it cracks.
Question 3 : How often should one clean the bird feeder ?
Answer 3: Please clean the bird feeder every other day. Discard the unused feed, clean the feeder with a damp cloth and let it dry before replenishing the feed. Make sure to fill only enough to last two days so that there is no waste. Every week, please wash the bird feeder with soap and water.
Question 4 : How does one choose a place to hang the bird feeder ?
Answer 4 : One can put it up on a tall tree. The feeder can also be put in a balcony where it is shady. The place should be far away from predators and human activity. The birds will watch the feeder for sometime before they start coming to it, so don’t be disheartened if your feeder is not used for a few days.
Question 5 : Other than jowar seeds what else can be used as bird feed ?
Answer 5 : Cooked rice with no salt, cooked and broken chapatis, fruits and nuts can all be used for bird feed.
