Spice up your fruit salad with chile, salt and lime.
INGREDIENTS
Fresh fruit, diced
Sea salt
Chile d Arbol or dried Korean or Thai chiles are all nice (see link below)
Lime juice, 3 key limes per large serving
DIRECTIONS
Place your fruit in a bowl, top it with chile, salt and cover the whole thing with lime juice. You want enough juice to ‘wash’ the salt of creating a nice salty, sour, spicy broth.
Enjoy immediately. This salad doesn’t keep well, so if you want to make it ahead of time, top it with chile, salt and lime just before serving.
My favorite fruits: pineapple, papaya, coconut, segmented grapefruit, melons, mango, apples and bananas.
Some delicious non fruits to try: jicama and cucumber.
