Inorder to build a closet shelf and rod you must first make shure you have the apopriate tools in order to do so. The first tool you need is a saw of some sort. It is incredibly difficult to build a closet shelf and rod with out one . Next you will need a hammer, a drill, an air com pressure, a brad or finish gun, a tape measure, caulking gun, a level, and if your going to paint it a paint brush and pail. The next most important thing you will need inorder to build and learn how to build a closet shelf and rod is the shelf itself. You will also nee a a pair of rod hangers 2 for the middle and two for the side. You will also nee some 1 x 3 board.
For your closet shelf and pole. The first and most important thing you must do is measure measure the distance of your closets width. Once you get you width for your closet shelf you can now cut your shelf to length. You are now getting closer to mastering how to build a closet shelf and rod. Once you have you shelf cut you can lay it aside and cut your 1 x 3 board inwhich will be used to hold up the shelf. After you cut your 1 x 3 board go ahead and cut two more paice about 1 and 1/2 feet long an set those aside also. Ok now your ready to start showing that you know how to build a closet shelf and rod/pole.
Now that you have all of your peices cut you are ready to actualy start building your closet shelf and rod. First take the first 1 x 3 board that you cut and place it on the wall make shure it is level, once you have it level go ahead and nail it into place. Now yuor read for your nextr step take the 2 1 x 3 boards that you cut 1 and 1/2 feet and place them in the middle about 24 to 48 Inches aprt over two studs mand make sure there plumb and nail those into place. Ok your half way done with mastering how to build a closet shelf and rod. The next thing you will do is place your shelf over the boards you just install and nail it into place. Once you have that in place you can now place your rod hangers over the 1 x 3 boards you nailed to the studs and scew those into place. OK three more steps and your will have learned how to build and install a closet shelf and rod. Next place place your two side hangers in place and screw those in . Now you can put your rod in place. Next caulk all of your cracks and last step paint it.
